July last year, I have given a free 3-day ticket to a follower of the I Value My Life page to an Ad-Tech Conference called RISE. The winner was Miss Linda Miao Li, who co-founded FaceSlap Limited, specialising in face and body painting. Linda and I went to sessions in the conference and got fond of each other’s entrepreneurship ability, creativity and determination. Needless to say, she helped me more than I helped her. As she inspired me to pursue my business ideas, she helped me to take a leap of faith.

I found Linda transparent with her purpose of making her business big. And her dreams were flashing to my eyes when she talked about it. That was the time when she was thanking me for the ticket. She was actually looking for something new to get inspiration from. And she can’t help but utter that she learned a lot from it. From then I thought, I had to continuously do the ‘giving’ part because the come back to me personally fed my soul.

For the longest time, I was figuring out a business venture of my own. But I haven’t gotten any sign until I had given out to the universe what I really hoped for. With a sole intention of helping out others in getting armoured towards their success, I lived by Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Big Magic“. I believed in the idea of the book that deepened my regard for time more and more. I seized an opportunity with a friend of many years to finally start a food business. And this happened not long after I attended RISE.

Look, I never imagined that within a year after that (the same month actually) conference fate will bring me to what is going to be a life-changing decision as far as creation is concerned. I didn’t see it coming. It just happened. And all that this food business’s engine needed was to be started with a yes and capital. Which I never expected to be possible. But next month is the target opening for our shop already. My co-founders and I thought of what was impossible before possible.

The idea is, I have given away something and I was given the same energy back to form something great. Call it energy, call it leap of faith, but all that I had to do was link to people with the same thinking and voila! We all “decided” to make it happen. I will let you know of it next month, I wouldn’t want to be a spoiler of my own grand opening, right?
