THE BAHA’I HOUSE OF WORSHIP

Twice I got to visit the Bahá’í House of Worship in Samoa. And as I inhale the energy of its temple, I can’t help but find its sacred scriptures worth sharing.

Undeniably, nations get divided because of their religion. Bahá’í teachings and scriptures rule out all forms of confusion with simple writings that speak great intentions.

These writings shed light to a lot of things that keep people divided because of their faith and certain beliefs. Many people had asked me what the Bahá’í House of Worship teaches. Here’s what I learned.

The Bahá’í House of Worship was conceived and has been constructed for the worship of God

independent of our notions of race, nation, class or creed.

That is why its services of worship offer selections from various Sacred Writings and not from Secretarian literature.

There is no ritualism or set form. Bahai’s have no professional clergy.

The Temple is open to all people for prayer and meditation.

There are no collections.

Only Baha’is are allowed to contribute to Bahá’í funds and consider it a spiritual privilege to do so.

Their contributions are both voluntary and confidential.

The Bahá’í House of Worship in Samoa was dedicated in 1984.

Its nine entrances symbolize the gathering together of all mankind, irrespective of race, religion, nation or class.

The Seats in the auditorium face the Holy Land.

Above the heads of the worshippers, in the apex of the dome,

is the symbol of the Greatest Name.

This is an invocation to God in Arabic script which may be translated as

“O Glory of the All-Glorious.”

The second visit I did was with my daughter in 2018.

WRITINGS OF BAHA-U-LLAH ON THE INSIDE OF THE BAHA’I HOUSE OF WORSHIP, SAMOA:

  1. The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens.
  2. Ye are the fruits of one tree and the leaves on one branch.
  3. Consort with the followers of all religions with friendliness.
  4. All the prophets of God proclaim the same Faith.
  5. O Son of Being! Thou art My lamp and My light is in thee.
  6. Religion is a radiant light and an impregnable stronghold.
  7. O Son of Being! Walk in My statutes for love of Me.
  8. The light of good character surpasseth the light of the sun.
  9. So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.
